Chandigarh and other regions in Punjab and Haryana faced heavy downpours on Monday, bringing underground infrastructural challenges to the forefront.
The latest meteorological reports indicate that Chandigarh received an impressive 70.5 mm rain in the last 24 hours culminating at 8:30 am Monday. This inclement weather caused part of a road near the busy Sector 47-48 traffic signal point to collapse, where a motorcyclist managed a narrow escape.
In response to the road cave-in, authorities quickly cordoned off the area and initiated repair work. Rain showers also swept across cities in Punjab and Haryana, disrupting daily life and submerging agricultural fields. Forecasts indicate more rain is expected in these areas, stirring anticipation and concern.
