Devastating Eastern Romania Floods Leave Tragic Aftermath
Severe floods in eastern Romania claimed the lives of three elderly individuals, displaced hundreds, and damaged numerous homes. Rescue operations involved helicopters and emergency services as rivers overflowed in Neamt and Suceava counties. Record-high water levels caused significant disruptions, and repair efforts on damaged infrastructure are ongoing.

Severe overnight flooding in eastern Romania has resulted in the deaths of three elderly residents and caused substantial damage to thousands of homes, officials reported on Monday. Rescue efforts are underway, with hundreds evacuated and four helicopters deployed to locate villagers stranded by the waters.
Approximately 25 villages across nine counties were impacted by heavy rain and strong winds. The storms ripped roofs from houses, dislodged trees, and obstructed major roadways, according to the emergency response agency, which released footage illustrating the extent of the destruction.
Neamt and Suceava counties were the worst affected, with overflowing rivers claiming lives and necessitating widespread evacuations. Rescue operations were challenged by blocked access roads, particularly in Brosteni, where emergency personnel utilized heavy machinery to recover victims. Authorities reported some rivers reached unprecedented water levels, and repair work on collapsed bridges is currently in progress.
