Himachal Pradesh's Mandi town was hit by a severe flash flood on Monday night, triggered by a cloudburst, with tragic consequences. Officials confirmed three fatalities, numerous submerged vehicles, and homes inundated amid continuing rescue efforts.
The town received an unprecedented 198.6 mm of rainfall since Monday evening, leading to surging water levels in local drains. As debris flowed through a five-kilometer radius, areas like Jail Road, Saini Mohalla, and the Zonal hospital were critically affected.
Authorities have mobilized the National Disaster Response Force, police, and local agencies to undertake rescue operations. Meanwhile, landslides and blocked roads have compounded the region's woes as rain continues to batter the district.
