Three individuals, including a teenage boy, tragically lost their lives when a roof caved in amid torrential rainfall in northwest Pakistan, police reported on Thursday.
The incident unfolded in Sarai Naurang tehsil, part of Lakki Marwat district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, late Wednesday night, after relentless rains compromised the structural integrity of the residence.
In a swift response to the calamity, local residents played a crucial role in assisting rescue officials during immediate relief efforts. Authorities have since issued stern warnings regarding other structures potentially at risk in the vicinity.
On Saturday, ahead of the tragedy, authorities had already cautioned about possible glacial flooding due to forecasted rains in the region. Anwar Shahzad, a spokesperson for the local disaster management authority, highlighted that this year's downpours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have surpassed those during the same time last year, prompting flood warnings and advisories.
