Severe flooding in Uttar Pradesh has inundated 402 villages within 37 tehsils, affecting over 84,000 residents, state officials reported on Sunday.
The Relief Commissioner, Bhanu Chandra Goswami, revealed that nearly half of those impacted have received some form of assistance. Efforts by several districts, including Kanpur Nagar and Lakhimpur Kheri, focus on extensive relief and rescue initiatives led by the National Disaster Relief Force and other local forces.
To mitigate the disaster's impact, relief measures encompass housing in flood shelters, distributing food packets, and ongoing health assessments by over 750 health teams. Damage to the region includes 343 homes and 4,015 hectares of agricultural land, addressed through compensation and community aid.
