Tragedy has struck the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir as a cloudburst and landslide incident claimed the lives of seven people, including five children. The disasters occurred in the early hours on Sunday in the villages of Jodh Ghati and Janglote, where heavy rains triggered the natural calamities.
Local authorities reported that the cloudburst and subsequent flooding left many areas submerged, complicating access and rescue efforts. The Indian Army was quick to respond, evacuating injured survivors and providing essential aid and relief to affected families.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured government support, while state officials have announced immediate financial assistance for the victims and their families. The weather office forecasts continued rainfall, warning residents to remain cautious and avoid risky areas.
