Mumbai continued to experience heavy rain on Sunday, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) maintained an 'orange alert' across the city. Despite a reduction in rainfall intensity compared to Saturday, the civic body reported several minor incidents, including short circuits and tree falls.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the recorded average rainfall varied slightly across regions between 8 am and 6 pm, with some localized areas experiencing up to 45 mm. Fortunately, the city avoided significant waterlogging as rain intensity abated by Sunday morning.
Train services on the Central Railway operated with minor delays, but no bus route diversions were necessary. The IMD's forecast highlighted possibilities of heavy rain and gusts reaching 60 kmph for Mumbai and nearby districts, warning residents to remain cautious amid continued monsoon activity.
