A stairway disaster has unfolded in south Mumbai where a portion of a two-storey building's staircase collapsed, leaving residents stranded on an upper floor. This incident took place on Sunday evening in the backdrop of the city's incessant rainfall.
The scene of the collapse was reported from Prabhu Gully, Chirabazar, near the Marine Lines station, around 7.43 pm. Multiple emergency response teams, comprising the fire brigade, police, ambulance services, and civic ward staff, promptly arrived to manage the situation and initiate rescue operations.
According to initial reports, efforts are focused on safely evacuating the individuals trapped on the second floor. While casualty or injury reports are pending, the heavy rains continue to pose challenges to rescue personnel and residents alike.
