Parts of Gujarat experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, prompting authorities to put emergency response plans into action as forecasts predict continued downpours in coastal regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects isolated areas, particularly in Saurashtra and South Gujarat's coastal districts like Navsari, Valsad, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath, to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days.
To prepare, 12 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 20 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are on standby. Additional moderate to heavy rain is forecasted across Gujarat, with districts like Gir Somnath already experiencing extreme weather, as reported by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
