A disastrous cloudburst in Chisoti, a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, has claimed 65 lives, according to officials. The tragedy struck on August 14, and rescue efforts have since expanded across the region.
Search operations began with the retrieval of a woman's body and additional body parts, which may belong to previously recovered victims. A DNA test will confirm the identities. Sniffer dogs and heavy machinery are deployed at key locations, including near a community kitchen site.
Efforts involve multiple organizations such as the Army, NDRF, SDRF, and local volunteers. The Army has constructed a Bailey bridge to restore village access. The Machail Mata yatra remains suspended, though a small group of devotees will carry the 'Charri' to the shrine soon.
