Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite road repairs and ensure pothole-free travel across the state before upcoming festivals. This comes as a part of the Gaddha Mukt Abhiyan, aimed at making major roads travel-worthy for festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali.
In a high-level meeting, Adityanath reviewed the road repair progress. Of 6,78,301 roads, 44,196 km were identified under the pothole-free initiative, with 21.67% progress reported. Key departments were ordered to collaborate and improve performance, particularly where progress lags.
The PWD has completed 84.82% of its road renovation targets, but the chief minister warned against laxity. Adityanath stressed transparent infrastructure execution, mandatory daily monitoring, and proposed a North-South Corridor to boost connectivity and the economy.
