The Goa government is set to launch the 'Mhaji Ghar' housing scheme, which aims to benefit almost half of the state's population, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday.
The scheme is pending completion of legal procedures, after which it will be officially inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Notifications regarding community-owned land, a 20-point programme, and government land have been released to facilitate the initiative.
This development follows recent amendments to laws concerning old homes on community and government-owned land. The project is part of Goa's commitment to offer housing security and ownership to longstanding residents and families affected by past rehabilitation efforts.
