The India Meteorological Department has projected severe weather conditions due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. This is anticipated to drenchant southern regions of West Bengal with substantial rains, persisting until September 24.
Heavy to very heavy downpours, ranging between 7-20 cm, are forecasted for South 24 Parganas, while other areas like Purba and Paschim Medinipur, and Kolkata, expect rainfall of 7-11 cm.
Fishermen are cautioned against venturing into the Bay of Bengal, with surface winds blowing at a speed of 35-45 kmph, potentially escalating to 55 kmph, complicating sea conditions until September 27.
