Kashmir's First Snow: A Picturesque Prelude to Winter

The picturesque valleys of Kashmir were adorned with a pristine white cover as the season's first snowfall graced its higher reaches on Friday. The famous ski resort of Gulmarg and Sinthan Top in Anantnag district were among the areas witnessing this transformation into a winter wonderland.

According to officials, light rainfall was observed in some plains, including Srinagar and its neighboring regions. The meteorological department has alerted that an active western disturbance will likely impact Jammu and Kashmir and nearby areas starting Sunday, bringing more precipitation.

From October 5 to October 7, widespread light to moderate rain and snow are expected, particularly in higher regions like Anantnag and Gulmarg, with peak activity anticipated during the nights of October 5 through the morning of October 7. This weather advisory highlights potential moderate to heavy snowfall at even higher elevations.
