The Mahayuti alliance, a coalition of BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, has planned to implement a 'Gen Z' internship programme aimed at rejuvenating civic administration in Mumbai, as confirmed by a BJP leader on Monday. If successful in the forthcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, this initiative promises to revolutionize urban governance and policy-making through active youth engagement.
Mumbai BJP unit president Ameet Satam announced that the internship would harness the talents of Gen Z—those born in the mid-1990s to early 2010s—known for their digital prowess. The selected interns will receive training in public policy and administration, enabling them to monitor and push for improvements in civic systems while drafting comprehensive research papers on urban planning and governance.
Additionally, in a bid to mitigate Mumbai's perennial flooding issues, a special study group will be established. This council will include experts from prestigious institutions such as IIT and VJTI, along with seasoned municipal professionals, to devise effective flood management strategies, further boosting the city's resilience against climate challenges. The precise schedule for the long-anticipated civic body elections remains undeclared.
