The government of Delhi has taken a decisive step in its fight against air pollution by enforcing a rule that mandates petrol pumps to supply fuel only to vehicles with a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.
Introduced originally in October 2025, the regulation aims to drastically reduce the number of polluting vehicles on the road. The directive aligns with the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the commitment to ensuring cleaner air and a healthier environment for Delhi's residents. Key agencies have been mobilized to ensure compliance, indicating a zero-tolerance approach to violations of the air quality mandate.
