A tragic accident unfolded in the Thuther area of Bantalab, Jammu, as a partially collapsed bridge claimed three lives and left an additional person injured. Rescue workers toiled through the night, executing a 12-hour operation to pull victims from the debris.
The bridge collapse occurred while laborers were performing repair work, initially damaged by last year's flash floods. Swift action by multiple rescue teams, including police, army, and disaster response forces, ensured the quick extraction of an injured laborer and recovery of three bodies.
In response to the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary visited the site, suspending two engineers and initiating a thorough investigation. A three-member committee has been established to scrutinize the circumstances leading to the collapse, with findings expected within five days.
