A sudden burst of heavy rain and strong winds wreaked havoc in parts of Jharkhand on Tuesday afternoon. The tempest uprooted trees and damaged electric poles, officials reported.
In Ranchi, areas like Kanke and Morabadi were particularly affected, causing significant road blockades. A close call was reported in East Jail Road when a tree fell on a car.
The city faced power outages due to the damaged poles. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for 12 districts, warning of lightning and gusty winds from May 15 to May 16.
