Resilient Rebuild: READY-HP's Impact on Himachal Pradesh's Disaster Recovery

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the critical importance of the READY-HP project during a high-level review meeting. Launched in January, the initiative addresses infrastructure damage, enhances early warning systems, and strengthens livelihoods against natural disasters.

This ambitious project, with a joint funding effort by the World Bank and the Himachal Pradesh government, is allocated Rs 2,687 crore. Aimed at boosting disaster resilience, it responds to the increasing vulnerability of the state due to frequent natural calamities such as cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods.

The project also focuses on promoting resilient public services and developing sustainable livelihood opportunities. By integrating green panchayats and risk-informed social safety mechanisms, it seeks to protect and strengthen the livelihoods of farmers and horticulturists against future disasters.
