The Delhi government has set a new benchmark by allocating over Rs 13 crore for the maintenance of 1,643 parks in the financial year 2025-26. Official data reveals this to be the highest financial assistance for such a cause since 2008-09, demonstrating a significant commitment towards enhancing the city's green spaces.

The Delhi Parks and Gardens Society has seen an increase in the number of participating Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and NGOs, fostering more extensive community engagement. Compared to the previous year, support for maintenance has expanded to include 160 new parks and an additional 48.80 acres, marking an 89.6% increase in financial support.

The government is also planning to transition to a 100% funding model for eligible projects to encourage more participation, particularly from financially constrained local bodies. These steps are part of a broader strategy to fortify Delhi's green cover, encouraging collective effort in the stewardship of public green spaces.
