A search operation has been launched in Thane to locate a 52-year-old man believed to have drowned. Datta Lahu Shinalkar, from the city's Kopri area, was last seen heading towards Mithabunder creek. CCTV footage captured his last known movements at 11:45 PM on Wednesday.
The search began after the missing man's family informed authorities on Thursday evening. Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, reported that rescuers were immediately dispatched to the area.
The search was temporarily halted late Thursday due to inadequate lighting and a strong creek current, but resumed on Friday morning. Local fisherman Prathamesh Kharkar has joined the ongoing efforts to locate Shinalkar in Mithabunder creek, as rescuers have combed the area for nearly three hours.
