Delhi Goes Green with Massive Miyawaki Plantation Drive

The Delhi forest department is undertaking a large-scale Miyawaki plantation project in south Delhi's Bhatti area, according to official documents. The project involves planting 40,000 saplings and 20,000 shrubs over a year.

The Miyawaki method, named after Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, accelerates forest growth by planting indigenous tree species closely together. This technique can create forests up to 10 times faster and 30 times denser than conventional methods, offering enhanced environmental benefits.

The department has called for tenders from experienced bidders to manage both the execution and maintenance of this plantation, as per a notice issued by the deputy conservator of forests, South Forest Division.
