The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a 10 per cent water rationing in Mumbai, citing reduced water storage levels in the reservoirs. The move aims to ensure a fair allocation of the shrinking resource to all city residents.

At a recent meeting, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijeet Bangar instructed engineers from the water engineering department to develop area-specific strategies to ease the burden on affected citizens. The meeting discussed the reasons for the rationing and its potential impacts on Mumbai's water supply system.

Ensuring strict compliance, Bangar emphasized continuous monitoring of water distribution and ordered action against illegal water extraction methods. The measures are intended to prevent service disruptions and maintain order during the water rationing period.
