In a decisive move, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has mandated officials to stick rigorously to an irrigation calendar, ensuring the timely completion of vital projects. The directive, unveiled at a collectors' conference, impacts 25 irrigation schemes, with 11 additional priority projects added to the agenda, highlighting Naidu's commitment to water resource management.
At a recent review meeting, Naidu underscored the necessity of adhering to project schedules while cautioning against any neglect in execution. With major projects like the Polavaram Project nearing completion, he emphasized securing financing for land acquisition and construction, vital for hitting critical deadlines. Notable accomplishments include the near-finalization of civil works and substantial progress in land acquisition and resettlement.
Looking forward, the CM proposed the creation of a landmark bridge downstream of the Polavaram spillway, envisioned as a tourist hotspot. Simultaneously, the completion of Gap-1 and Gap-2 works under the Earth-cum-Rock-Fill dam, as well as water supply initiatives, are prioritized. Meanwhile, financial allocations for lingering infrastructure elements, like the Veligonda Project, are being accelerated to meet the ambitious timelines set forth in the irrigation calendar.
