At a recent event in Arunachal Pradesh, Gabriel Wangsu stressed the importance of traditional ecological knowledge for climate change defense. Speaking at the Arunachal Pradesh Jaiv Vividhata and Beej Utsav 2026, he praised Keyi Panyor as a model of sustainable, 'biohappiness-driven' development.

Wangsu noted erratic rainfall, shorter winters, and severe floods signal climate threats, urging protection of indigenous crops as 'living insurance.' Keyi Panyor's new designation as India's inaugural 'Bio-Happy District' underscores its commitment to biodiversity, tribal identity, and ecological resilience.

Wangsu highlighted efforts like Hage Nanya's pursuit of plant variety protection and proposed boosting seed banks and certification systems. Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung celebrated the region's agricultural heritage, while MSSRF's Soumya Swaminathan spoke on integrating grassroots conservation with inclusive livelihoods.
