Uttar Pradesh, previously gripped by severe heatwave conditions, experienced significant relief as showers contributed to a reduction in temperatures across different regions. Residents in the state, especially in areas like the capital city of Lucknow, felt the cooling effects of the rain.
In Lucknow, the maximum temperature dipped to 34 degrees Celsius, a full 6.1 degrees below the typical seasonal norm, and the minimum temperature reached 24.5 degrees Celsius, which is 1 degree below average for this time of year. According to the meteorological department's report on Saturday, these changes brought much-needed respite to the inhabitants.
Rainfall amounts varied across the state, with Bahraich receiving 18.0 mm, Muzaffarnagar 12.2 mm, and Lakhimpur Kheri 5.0 mm. In other regions like Najibabad, Meerut, and Moradabad, lighter rainfall and traces were observed. Despite showers, Moradabad recorded as the hottest location, reaching 38.5 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological experts have predicted that thunderstorms and lightning, possibly accompanied by strong winds, are likely to occur at isolated locations throughout Uttar Pradesh.
