The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) has been relocated from Dharamshala to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, due to security concerns following the Indian Army's 'Operation Sindoor.' The operation targeted nine terror infrastructures across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) disclosed to ANI that the Dharamshala airport's closure necessitated the venue change. Scheduled for May 11, the match, initially set in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, was moved as a precautionary measure.
Flight cancellations across 11 cities in northern and central India, including Dharamshala, have also put the subsequent PBKS fixture against Delhi Capitals at risk. The BCCI is actively coordinating with the government to determine the feasibility of hosting the match amid security concerns due to its proximity to the India-Pakistan border.
