Breaking Boundaries: Franco Colapinto Steps into Alpine's Racing Spotlight

In a strategic move, Argentine driver Franco Colapinto is set to replace Australian Jack Doohan at the Alpine Formula One team for at least five races, beginning next week in Imola, as confirmed by the Renault-owned team. Colapinto, who had been reserve since January, steps into the spotlight as Alpine aims to boost their standing in the constructors' rankings, currently at ninth place.

The decision comes in the wake of team principal Oliver Oakes' sudden resignation, with executive advisor Flavio Briatore now overseeing operations. Briatore emphasized support for Doohan, acknowledging his professionalism, and described the next five races as a period to explore different options and potentially alter the team's trajectory.

Colapinto, with a prior brief but notable stint replacing Logan Sargeant at Williams, expressed readiness and gratitude as he prepares to team up with experienced driver Pierre Gasly. Meanwhile, Doohan remains committed to personal growth, observing his team's upcoming performances while pursuing his career goals in racing.
