The Rajasthan Royals have introduced a new player to their ranks following an injury setback to one of their key members. Lhuan-dre Pretorius, a promising 19-year-old wicketkeeper from South Africa, has been named as the replacement for Nitish Rana in the ongoing IPL season.
Pretorius has demonstrated his capabilities in the T20 format, having amassed 911 runs across 33 matches. His exceptional performance includes a highest score of 97 during his debut for the Paarl Royals in the SA20 league earlier this year. Notably, the same group's ownership spans across both the SA20 franchise and the Rajasthan Royals.
Despite adding fresh talent, the Rajasthan Royals have been knocked out of the play-offs contention, with two remaining fixtures against the Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. Pretorius will continue his journey in professional cricket, carrying a base price tag of Rs 30 Lakh as he joins the Royals.
