The Indian senior women's football team is gearing up for two crucial FIFA international friendly matches against Uzbekistan, as announced by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Thursday. Scheduled for May 30 and June 3, these encounters will take place at the prestigious Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru.
Led by head coach Crispin Chettri, the Blue Tigresses commenced their training camp on May 1 in preparation for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. Drawn in Group B, India is set to face Mongolia, Timor-Leste, Iraq, and Thailand in the qualifying matches beginning in June.
Currently ranked 69th in the FIFA Women's Rankings, India has faced the 50th-ranked Uzbekistan 13 times, winning only once. The upcoming matches serve as an important challenge for the team to improve on their past performances and ready themselves for the forthcoming international competitions.
