Dharamshala witnessed an unexpected halt in the Indian Premier League match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The match, scheduled for May 25, was called off midway owing to security concerns, as confirmed by Sanjay Sharma of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

The decision came after thorough deliberations among the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, the Punjab Kings franchise, and local authorities. Preparations by the Dharamshala police ensured a smooth evacuation of the stadium, averting any unpleasant incidents during the unscheduled stoppage. Both cricket teams were safely escorted back to their hotels.

In the wake of the abrupt cancellation, chants of 'Pakistan murdabad' echoed among departing fans. By then, PBKS was leading at 122/1. On Friday, the BCCI announced the indefinite suspension of the IPL, citing the precarious situation as the reason for the decision. The final match of the tournament has been postponed indefinitely.
