World-renowned tennis star Novak Djokovic will be making his presence felt at the Geneva Open once again this year. Aiming to claim his first clay-court victory of the season before Roland Garros, Djokovic is determined to turn the tide in his favor. The tournament, scheduled for May 17-24, serves as the final warm-up before the players head to Paris for the prestigious French Open.
Currently ranked sixth, Djokovic is on a mission to secure his 100th singles title, although he has faced early exits at Monte Carlo and Madrid recently. The Geneva Open lineup promises stiff competition, featuring high-ranking players such as world No. 4 Taylor Fritz and reigning champion Casper Ruud, who has dominated at Geneva's lakeside park club in recent years.
The event is noteworthy for the potential of Djokovic celebrating his 38th birthday in Geneva on May 22. Last year, his journey at the tournament ended in the semifinals against Tomas Machac. In Paris, Djokovic progressed to four rounds but ultimately withdrew from his quarterfinal match against Ruud due to a knee injury, resulting in the loss of his No. 1 ranking.
