The eagerly anticipated launch of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, marking the upcoming Test series between India and England, faces a delay. The setback follows a tragic airline accident in Ahmedabad, causing 275 fatalities.
Originally named the Pataudi Trophy to honor former Indian captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, the series now plans to pay homage to legendary cricketers James Anderson of England and Sachin Tendulkar of India. The England and Wales Cricket Board announced the renaming decision.
The series, set to commence on June 20 in Leeds, will feature five Test matches. While the renaming proceeds, there are considerations from the BCCI and ICC officials to retain Pataudi's influence through a separate individual honor.
