Salernitana vs. Sampdoria: Relegation Decider Postponed Due to Food Poisoning

The Serie B relegation decider between Salernitana and Sampdoria has been rescheduled for Sunday following an outbreak of food poisoning among Salernitana players. Originally slated for Friday, the game was postponed after the league reviewed medical records and a criminal complaint from Salernitana.

Approximately 20 players and staff members became ill while flying back to Salerno from Genoa, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the playoff on Sunday. The postponement allows Salernitana additional time to recover before attempting to overturn the two-goal deficit.

Sampdoria, aiming to avoid a drop to Serie C for the first time in their storied history, were initially relegated at the end of the regular season. However, they were given a reprieve following Brescia's relegation for financial misconduct.
