The Indian U23 men's football team has landed in Tajikistan to face off in two friendly matches against the hosts and the Kyrgyz Republic. Under the leadership of coach Naushad Moosa, the squad will first compete against Tajikistan this Wednesday at the Hisor Central Stadium, with the match scheduled for 20:30 IST.
In readiness for these crucial games, the team held a preparatory camp in Kolkata before embarking on their journey to Tajikistan. A mobility session was conducted upon arrival, followed by a training session to familiarize with the artificial turf. The matches are seen as vital preparation for the upcoming AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers in September, where India will battle Bahrain, Qatar, and Brunei Darussalam.
Despite the challengingly hot weather and the 700-metre altitude in Dushanbe, coach Moosa remained optimistic about strong performances and sought enthusiastic support from local Indian fans. The Tajikistan U23s, having faced UAE with losses last November, are expected to pose a strong challenge. Moosa emphasized the importance of the team executing their strategies efficiently on the pitch.
