Last weekend's race marked the 54th occasion the event has taken place at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This track, named after the legendary Ferrari driver and father of 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, has hosted the Grand Prix since 1978.
F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali expressed his gratitude to the Octane Racing Group and political figures who have collaborated to enhance the venue. The renewed agreement comes after the previous contract was impacted by COVID-19, with the race returning to a newly scheduled May 24 slot next year.
