Carlos Cuesta has made history as the youngest coach to take the helm in Serie A for almost a century, after being appointed by Parma on Thursday.

The 29-year-old, who secured his first managerial role, previously served for five years as an assistant at Arsenal in the English Premier League. Parma confirmed his commitment with a two-year contract, including an option for a third year.

Cuesta, hailing from Mallorca, brings experience from previous coaching stints in Italy and Spain, including Juventus and Atletico Madrid youth teams. He succeeds Cristian Chivu, who led Parma to Serie A safety before departing to join Inter Milan.
