In a landmark event for Indian tennis, the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) will host the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru. With this, the city becomes a significant player on the international tennis stage as it welcomes 21 nations divided into seven groups.
The Playoffs are scheduled to commence from November 14, 2025, marking the first appearance of the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs on Indian soil. India, having recently clinched a spot with a strong performance in the Asia/Oceania Group I tie in Pune, will face Slovenia and the Netherlands in Group G during the three-day event.
Expressing enthusiasm over the event, Priyank Kharge, Senior Vice President of KSLTA and Karnataka Minister, emphasized the milestone's significance for Indian tennis. Sunil Yajaman, the Joint Secretary of KSLTA, highlighted the opportunity the Playoffs present for boosting grassroots tennis in India and inspiring young talent. The event is poised to elevate India's status on the global tennis platform.
