Oman Cricket has found itself in a controversial predicament following a delayed disbursement of prize money from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The funds, originally due, will now only be distributed by July 2025, causing unrest among players over monetary concerns.

The board maintains that the delay is procedural as they're waiting on post-event clarifications from the ICC, which commonly occur after global tournaments. This explanation has not placated 11 senior team members, who withdrew from an important tournament in protest.

In response to the walkout, the Oman Cricket Board conducted emergency meetings, ultimately deciding to terminate the contracts of the dissenting players due to what they describe as a breach of obligations. To prevent such occurrences in the future, they plan to improve communication and clarify future compensation structures.
