India has reiterated its commitment to managing the fitness of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, according to head coach Gautam Gambhir. Despite the team's five-wicket loss in the opening test against England, Bumrah will only participate in three of the remaining four matches.

Bumrah, who declined the test captaincy to focus on his health after recovering from a back injury, was India's standout bowler in the first innings at Headingley. However, he failed to claim any wickets in the second innings, raising concerns about fielding an inexperienced attack.

Gambhir remains resolute about the decision, stating, "Managing Bumrah's workload is crucial for us." With Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur stepping up, India's strategy focuses on long-term performance. The next test commences in Birmingham on July 2.
