India's badminton prowess was on full display at the ongoing China Open 2025, with top-ranked shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advancing to the Round of 16 without breaking a sweat. The duo dominated their Round of 32 match, defeating the Japanese team of Kenya Mitsuhashi and Hiroki Okamura 21-13, 21-9 in just 31 minutes.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu demonstrated her mettle by overcoming a challenging start against Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki. After clinching the first game 21-15, Sindhu faced a setback in the second, losing 8-21. However, she surged ahead in a tightly contested deciding game, ultimately winning 21-17 to secure her spot in the next round.
In the women's doubles, the Panda sisters, Rutaparna and Swetaparna, met a formidable Hong Kong China duo and were ousted with scores of 12-21, 13-21. Elsewhere, Lakshya Sen's campaign ended disappointingly, while HS Prannoy narrowly advanced, highlighting a mixed day for Indian shuttlers. (ANI)
