The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has embarked on an ambitious mission to identify and nurture young football talent, launching U14 boys' trials in Hyderabad this week. Backed by the official AIFF website, it's a significant part of their long-term strategic planning to bolster youth football in India.
Over an 18-month period, AIFF's scouting team, in collaboration with FIFA Talent ID expert Richard Allen, has pinpointed 207 prospective young players in various competitions, ranging from AIFF youth leagues to national championships. These players are now set to be evaluated by seasoned coaches to finalize the U14 squad for advanced training endeavors.
AIFF's revamped scouting approach has been pivotal in recognizing emerging talent from historically underrepresented areas, notably Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, the federation has conducted workshops aimed at enhancing the skills of coaches, scouts, and physical education teachers in grassroots talent identification efforts.
