Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin's star driver, has been medically cleared to participate in the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix. This comes after the two-time Formula 1 champion skipped the initial practice session due to a back injury incurred during the Belgian Grand Prix.
The team announced the decision on social media platform X, explaining that Alonso opted out of the first session to manage the injury and minimize time in the car. Following further treatment and official clearance by the FIA, Alonso will join teammate Lance Stroll in the AMR25.
In Alonso's absence, reserve driver Felipe Drugovich filled in, finishing 16th in practice. Drugovich, the 2022 Formula 2 champion, has been on the cusp of an F1 debut, previously stepping in during team testing sessions. He remains poised for any future opportunities.
