Poymantee Baisya Shines: Silver for India in WTT Contender Mixed Doubles

In a remarkable achievement for Indian table tennis, Poymantee Baisya, alongside her partner Akash Pal, clinched the silver medal in the mixed doubles category at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender event in Lagos, Nigeria. The event, spanning from July 22 to 26, saw top seeds Baisya and Pal making strides in the international arena.
The dynamic Indian duo created history by becoming only the second mixed doubles pair from India to make it to the finals of a WTT Contender event. They dominated the early rounds with decisive victories, cruising through the opener and quarterfinal with straight-game wins. In the semifinals, they overcame Italy's John Oyebode and Gaia Monfardini 3-1, before falling 1-3 in a spirited final against France's Jules Rolland and Prithika Pavade.
Recognition for Baisya's performance came swiftly, with Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, offering his congratulations.
