The Indian Super League (ISL) is in turmoil as Chennaiyin FC suspended operations due to unresolved Master Rights Agreement (MRA) issues between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL). The crisis has led other clubs, including Bengaluru FC and Odisha FC, to halt player salaries.
A critical meeting is set for Thursday, where AIFF will address concerns with eight ISL clubs, though Chennaiyin FC will not attend. The clubs urge for quick resolution from AIFF and FSDL, as ongoing uncertainty endangers the future of Indian club football.
This situation arose from the indeterminate status of the MRA renewal, set to expire in December, leaving clubs and players in limbo. AIFF's ability to negotiate new MRA terms is pending a Supreme Court judgment, exacerbating the crisis.
