The India U20 Women's Team kicked off their AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers campaign with a goalless draw against Indonesia at the Thuwunna Stadium on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The result leaves the Young Tigresses with one point in Group D, currently led by Myanmar, who crushed Turkmenistan 6-1.

The match saw an intense midfield battle from the outset, with both sides striving for control. India settled in early, creating numerous chances through the wings. A promising cross by Neha in the sixth minute nearly confused the Indonesian defense, but no one was able to capitalize on it.

As the first half progressed, Sulanjana and Pooja tried long-range shots with varying success. Post-break, Neha continued to threaten down the left flank, but Indonesia's defense held strong. India increased their pressure in the final half-hour; substitute Babita Kumari and Sibani Devi Nongmeikapam combined well, though couldn't break through. Indonesia's Ajeng Sri Handayani had a late chance too, but India's goalkeeper Monalisha Devi made a crucial save to maintain the stalemate.

Near the end, India had two set-piece opportunities, both executed by Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam. The free-kicks were on target but were expertly saved by the Indonesian goalkeeper. The Young Tigresses are set to face Turkmenistan next at the same venue on August 8, aiming for their first win in the qualifiers.
