This week, a record 182-member Indian contingent, including top shooters like Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary, is set to compete in the Asian Championships held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The team is India's largest ever for the tournament, which will have events across senior, junior, and youth categories.

The competition will see 58 events contested, comprising 46 individual and 12 mixed team events. Previously, India had won 59 medals overall at the last edition in Changwon, with athletes now aiming to surpass those numbers. India's performance put them behind China and South Korea, ending with a single individual gold secured by Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar.

As India gears up, continental heavyweights like China, Korea, and the host nation Kazakhstan, fielding 111 participants, present significant challenges. With a targeted approach, India will field five shooters per senior event, while the junior category will have six participants, maintaining a blend of Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines.
