Ivory Coast striker Sebastien Haller has made a remarkable return to Utrecht after a challenging spell with Borussia Dortmund, the German club announced Monday. Haller, 31, initially joined Dortmund from Ajax Amsterdam in July 2022 but was soon sidelined due to a testicular cancer diagnosis.

Following two major surgeries and chemotherapy, Haller showcased remarkable resilience, returning to the pitch in early 2023. Despite health struggles, he managed to participate in 33 Bundesliga matches and scored nine goals, solidifying his status as a formidable athlete.

"Sebastien has written a special story here," Dortmund's sports director Sebastian Kehl commented. "Now, he is returning to Utrecht, a club of great significance to him. We extend our best wishes for his future and, above all, his health." During 2015-2017, Haller also played for Utrecht, marking an emotional homecoming.
