Ukrainian track and field star Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk has been sidelined for four years following a positive test for testosterone, according to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU). The 30-year-old maintains her innocence, disputing the AIU's decision and citing a lack of explanation for the testosterone metabolites found in her sample.

Bekh-Romanchuk, who has previously clinched gold and silver medals in prestigious events like the European Championships and World Championships, has announced a hiatus from athletics. She aims to focus on her well-being and family amid heightened emotional stress triggered by the suspension.

The athlete's provisional suspension began on May 13, marking a temporary end to her competitive aspirations. Bekh-Romanchuk expressed her refusal to concede guilt and underscored the toll of battling both the AIU's ruling and personal challenges.
