The International Cricket Council (ICC) has turned down a request from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from the ongoing Asia Cup. The PCB claimed that Pycroft instructed Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha, to avoid shaking hands with India's Suryakumar Yadav during Sunday's match.
An ICC source confirmed that late last night, the cricket governing body responded to the PCB's complaint, stating that Pycroft would remain in his role. The controversy arose after the PCB alleged that standard procedure, including the exchange of team sheets, was not followed.
Pycroft, a 69-year-old Zimbabwean, is set to continue his duties, officiating in Pakistan's final group-stage game against the UAE. The situation has sparked debate over the conduct of match officials and the procedures followed in international cricket events.
